Reading for pleasure

We are so pleased with how the children have settled into school, especially those pupils who are new to Yardley Hastings Primary. We hope that they have been sharing news about their topics and learning with you all at home.

We have so much planned for the year, including our curriculum information online and in-person sessions this term.  We will be placing a particular focus on reading, and how we can support children and parents with reading. A key initiative this year will be to promote reading for pleasure and we have many exciting ideas to support this.

We would like to share our plans with you at an in-person meeting on Tuesday 3rd October at 7pm. During the session, we will be covering how we teach reading in school, future plans for our reading curriculum and how to support your child with reading at home. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We do hope that you will be able to join us.

Summer term plans!

Welcome back to school after the Easter break. We have so many plans for the summer term, including two residential trips, Bikeability training, and our next Global Focus Week, planned for just after the half term break. The Focus Week will be about Zero Hunger, as part of our Global Curriculum.

We would love to see you at our Coffee and Catch-Up, which is taking place on Wednesday 26th April. It always lovely to welcome families into school for a chat, so please do pop by if you can!
