We are very pleased to have an active School Council consisting of representatives from each class. At the beginning of each school year, children are invited to present manifestos to put themselves forward to join the School Council and we follow the democratic process to ballot and fairly choose representatives.
These are the children who are currently the School Councillors in 2022/2023.
The School Council meet regularly with Mrs Beasant to bring ideas and concerns from the pupils for discussion and get involved with welcoming visitors, for example, introducing members of the local Church to the school.
The councillors have worked together with the Hope Centre, Northampton, in order to collect items for the food bank, This was incredibly successful and we were able to deliver a substantial amount of donations, helping to support people facing increasing poverty.
The School Council are committed to promoting positive health and wellbeing and chose to lead an assembly so that all children are aware of the steps they can take when worried and might be unsure of how to cope with it. They created a poster which is displayed for all to see.
The councillors are currently working with staff and some year 6 children to create a sensory garden in the playground. The intention of this space is for all to benefit from, look after, contribute towards and most importantly, enjoy. They have reached out to the local community to ask for donations. This is a work in progress
