Tremendous Transport - How to board an aeroplane!

As part of our topic 'Tremendous Transport', we are looking at different types of transport. This week we are going to be making our cars based on the designs we created a few weeks ago. In English, our model text is called 'How to board an aeroplane' which links very nicely with our chosen topic. 

In order to get the children to understand our model text on instruction writing fully, we set up the classroom like an aeroplane. The teachers dressed as air hostesses and the children had created passports enabling them to fly with 'Class 2 airlines'. The children lined up and showed their passports in order to board the plane. Next, they were taken to their seat where they had to pay an entry fee. This enabled the children to use the skills they had been learning about money. After this, the children used the rest of their money to purchase a snack and then it was time to put on our seatbelts. We had a wonderful time and landed back safely in the classroom!
