Class 2

Welcome to our Class 2 page!

The Great Fire of London

In Topic, Class 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We have discovered that the fire started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery on Pudding Lane, and spread due to houses being made out of wood and being very close together. To help us understand what this tragic event was like in 1666, we have written diary entries from the perspective of Samuel Pepys, and we have been conducting news reports to present the responses of the local people of Pudding Lane. Finally, we designed our own Tudor buildings thinking about what materials we would use which is linked to our current topic in science.

Last Friday, we were able to recreate the Great Fire of London on the playground! We put our Tudor buildings in a line and started a small fire in the first building which was the bakery. Gradually, each house caught on fire and it was fantastic to watch! Everybody was very excited to see the big building burn too!

Year 2 Multi Skills Trip

Year 2 had a wonderful afternoon at the Pemberton Centre in Rushden for the District KS1 Multi-Skills Festival. Everyone had lots of fun exploring different stations which allowed the children to build their confidence, work on being part of a team, and it was also a great opportunity to learn something new! Additionally, it was great to team up with Denton and everyone would love to take part in the activities again!
