Class 3

Welcome to our Class 3 page!

This term Class 3 have been studying 'People in Art' and the 'Victorians'. As part of our Victorian topic each child chose an occupation from Victorian England to research. Occupations such as a miner, trapper, flower girl and a nurse were researched and then the children made their own dolly peg toy styled as their researched occupation. The dolly peg doll was a popular toy for the lower classes in Victorian England and the children enjoyed making them as a homework piece. The picture shows the dolly pegs currently being displayed in our classroom in the style of an L.S Lowry painting. Lowry is the artist we have been studying and who was born during the reign of Queen Victoria.

Planet Earth: Oxford Edition!

To finish our Science topic of 'Living Things and their Habitats', we travelled to Oxford to visit their Museum of Natural History.

We began the trip by investigating the incrediblly wide variety of organisms on display around the huge main hall.

Then, we were lucky enough to have a special 'Bug Hunt' session with Chris from the Museum who specialises in bugs and insects. As you can see below, we handles Madagascan hissing cockroaches and came face to face with a luminescent scorpion, 'Blossom' Mantis and a very friendly Mexican red-knee tarantula!

Have a look at the amazing creatures we spotted on our exciting trip...
