Class 1

Welcome to our Class 1 page!

Thinking Hats

Today the Reception children were discussing a massive issue! Should we eat cake every day for breakfast? We used our ‘Thinking Hats’ to discuss the question. We started with our yellow hat and discussed all the positives about eating cake every day. We thought that cake is yummy, there could be lots of chocolate and the cake might have good toppings. We then used the black hat to think of the negatives. The children thought eating cake every day would be unhealthy, that too much sugar might make you poorly and the sugar might make holes in your teeth! The children then used the red hat to discuss how they would feel about eating cake every day. Some children said they would feel happy and excited but most of the children said they might feel a bit sick and even grumpy!

The children reached a conclusion that eating cake everyday might not be the best idea!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Blast Off!

This week Class 1 have been on a very exciting mission to the moon! They created their own space helmets and we made a list of what we would need to take with us. We put on our space boots and space suits and entered the rocket! It was a bumpy ride and when we looked out the window, we could see lots of stars and other planets. We landed on the moon with a bump and thought carefully how to exit the rocket, as the moon does not have a lot of gravity. We took big moon steps to explore the moon and found lots of craters and footsteps from other astronauts! We experimented with flour and rocks to find out how the craters on the moon were created. Take a look at our pictures!
