Class 1

Welcome to our Class 1 page!

Class 1 World Book Day

The children in Class 1 recently celebrated World Book Day. The outfits were amazing – so much thought and effort had gone into them. Our focus book was ‘Ten Little Pirates’ by Mike Brownlow. We used this as a stimulus for our provision and activities. We built a huge pirate ship in our outdoor area, designed pirate flags and counted how many pirates got on and off the pirate ship. We created treasure maps to help us find the buried treasure! Some of us even wrote some messages in a bottle. Take a look at our pictures!

Chinese New Year - Year of The Pig

Chinese New Year was the 5th February and Class 1 have had lots of fun and have learnt a lot about it! We have watched videos about what they do to prepare for New Year, such as cleaning the house to get rid of the bad and welcome the New Year, and putting up decorations. We learnt lots about their culture, such as their lucky colour is red and their lucky numbers are 8 and 9. We have created our own Chinese fans and lanterns to symbolise the brightness of Spring. We have even been practicing writing our numbers in Mandarin. Take a look at our photos!
