Thursday 6th October was National Poetry Day and Class 1 celebrated this with the poem ‘Here Comes a Hedgehog’ by Brenda William and Brian Moses. We started by listening to the poem and identifying the rhyming words. We then story mapped the poem and added actions to perform it. Throughout the day, the children took part in various hedgehog related activities, from making a hedgehog card to building a hedgehog house for the school.
Here Comes a Hedgehog by Brenda Williams and Brian Moses
Here comes a hedgehog
Small and round.
Here is a leaf pile
On the ground.
In goes the hedgehog
To make his bed.
Rolls in the leaves
Then rests his head.
