Year 3 & 4 Cluster Hockey Tournament

"The year 3 & 4 quick sticks hockey tournament on Wednesday 9th March atWollaston school was very well attended. There were 14 teams from 7different local primary schools. Due to the number of teams entering thetournament, we decided to run it as two separate competitions with 7 teamsin each. To avoid teams moving to much we ran one competition on Wollastonschools top Astro and one on the bottom Astro. We had over 20 young leadersfrom the Wollaston schools sports leadership academy supporting thetournament. The experienced year 9 sports leaders took charge, with oneleader working with each primary school. The year 7 & 8 leaders wereattending their first tournament, so were shown the ropes by the olderleaders. With 6 hockey pitches in use each round, we had 12 teams playingall the time and 2 teams resting each rotation. The level of commitment and enjoyment from the pupils was brilliant to seeand the standard of play was a credit to the teachers that have beencoaching the students in lessons. All matches we refereed by the  Wollastonsports leaders. The Sports leaders also helped primary staff run teamsmaking sure they got to the pitches on time. After one and a half hours ofhockey there was little to separate the teams. Marvellous Musicians!

Recently, the children have started to perform in assemblies. The extremely brave and talented Esme beautifully played Jeremiah's Waltz on the violin. It was wonderful to see all the children in awe of your talent. You should be very proud of yourself, Esme!
