Welcome back!

I hope you have all had a lovely term break. The summer term is always a very busy one and this will be no exception! We will start with our cafes next week. Preparations are well underway and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible and to the orders for ‘take outs’!

We will be very sorry to be losing our Year 6s at the end of this term. I had the great pleasure of spending a week in St Ives with most of them in the run up to term break. Along with some of our Year 5s, we had the most amazing time staying in a fabulous hostel and visiting many of the attractions in the area. The weather was fantastic which certainly helped. Blue skies dominated most of the week which made our visits to St Michael’s Mount, Lands End and the Minnack Theatre all the more impressive. We made sure we had plenty of time for the beach and, at one point, had nearly all the children in the sea! One of the objectives for the trip was to represent what we saw through art. We spent a good deal of time sketching, creating art in the sand and had a very thought provoking visit to Tate St Ives studying abstract and modern art. Our theme of ecology and conservation was delivered through the very strong ‘eco message’ at the hostel and our very popular visit to Newquay zoo. We have so many photos of the trip, which we are looking forward to sharing with you on Monday (5.30pm at Yardley).

Our wonderful FOYs team are, of course, busy making preparations for the fete on Saturday 15th June. Thank you for all the donations you have sent in so far and to those of you who have offered to help. FOYs do an amazing job and the money they raise is vital to the running of our school and to provide the extended curriculum of trips, events and visits to and from school. Please come and support us on the day; it really does make a difference!

Please also remember to book your slot for our new transition meetings that will take place between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 15th July. Booking is the same as for the previous parents meetings and will open on Monday 17th June.

Rehearsals for the summer play are now well under way under the expert guidance of Mrs Dyson and Mrs Rutter. I am sure it will be as spectacular as ever! Details of ticket allocations will follow shortly.

So, as you can see, there is a lot happening! I will hopefully see most of you over the next few days but do remember, as always, that my door is always open and if you are unable to get to school, you can always contact me by email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
