We have only been back for a week but the festive season seems a very long time ago! The children have all settled in really well and seem to be getting used to a full day again (as have the staff!)
We have a very busy, exciting term planned. Our first ‘event’ was last Wednesday when NCC’s online safety officer, Simon Aston came in to work with all the children in Key stage One and Two. Simon then led a very informative evening for parents. Simon came very highly recommended and the children were all very engaged during his session. He then delivered a thought provoking presentation in the evening which has certainly led to a lot of discussion amongst parents and staff alike. I will be sending out a summary of his key points, recommended websites and apps over the next few days.
Friday January 18th is World Religion Day. To celebrate this, we are devoting the whole week to learning about different religions and are delighted that many speakers will be coming to both schools to share their beliefs and practises with the children. This will include representative from the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths. We would like to share what we have learnt with you at a special assembly on Wednesday 23rd January at 2.45pm. Each class will take one religion and present what they have learnt. We will send a reminder out nearer the time but all are welcome.
On Monday 4th February, we are delighted that all of class 1 and 2 will have the opportunity to participate in art activities at Yardley Arts opposite the school. They have very kindly offered to open up on the Tuesday morning at 8.30am for you to see the work that the children have created. Mr Baker and myself will be on hand to provide coffees and refreshments! We held very similar art event and sharing session with classes 3 and 4 last term which was hugely successful, so are delighted to be able to offer the same to the younger members of the school.
Following on from my ‘Welcome back’ letter this term, I am really pleased that everyone is now lining up again on the playground in the morning and delighted that the number of late arrivals has reduced considerably! Thank you.
