Class 4

Welcome to our Class 4 page!

Dance Performance

This term our PE work has included a dance unit.  As part of this work, we have looked at dances from STOMP who use everyday items such as brooms and bin lids in their performances.  Using these as inspiration, we decided to create our own dances using items that we use in our PE lessons throughout the year.

We performed our dances to each other a few weeks ago and after each performance we discussed what we liked and suggested improvements.  We then went on to improve our performances based on the advice given.  In assembly today, we performed our dances for the rest of the school and then finished with a whole class performance.  We all enjoyed this exciting and noisy unit of work!

International Persons with Disabilities Day 2023

Yesterday, Class 4 enjoyed an interactive workshop run by the Anne Frank Trust which celebrated International Persons with Disabilities Day 2023. The workshop was based around an interview with Doaa Shayea, a disability rights activist and a Para Powerlifter who will be representing Great Britain in the Paris Olympics, 2024.

We learned more about how a disability can be a physical or mental condition and that not all disabilities are visible. We developed our understanding of Neurodiversity and the barriers people experience in day-to-day life. We also found out about intersectionality and how everyone's experience can be unique.

Doaa spoke to us about ableism and disableism and we discussed how we can be an ally to someone with disabilities. Some of us will be sharing our learning with the rest of the school in an assembly later this week.
